We are plant people. Pretty much everything we do involves some version of “stomping weeds and planting trees.”
Shelterbelt is a fully licensed, bonded and insured landscape contracting company that is dedicated to enlightened open-land management, restoration of native vegetation and habitats, and beautiful, natural landscapes. We are skilled in safe and effective working methods, beneficial plant and noxious weed identification, and good land management decision-making. Washington Specialty Contractor #SHELT**832Q2.
Commitment to our Employees:
Our dedicated, skilled and hard working employees are Shelterbelt’s greatest asset by far. All full-time employees get paid more than Bellingham’s Living Wage, receive Paid Time Off/Sick Leave and Paid Family Leave and are enrolled in our Simple IRA Retirement Plan.
Commitment to Green and Sustainable Business Practices:

By the very nature of our main line of work–the restoration of native plants and natural areas–we are committed to a greener world. Likewise, we are committed to sustainable business practices and support of the local economy. In the office and in the field, we strive to reduce, reuse and recycle. On projects, we process biomass on-site when possible, utilize locally produced mulches and composts, and patronize local nursery growers and suppliers.
